SYNOPSIS
Between 8th Ave. and the Hudson River, the Irish mafia runs 20 blocks of a tough New York City neighborhood known as Hell’s Kitchen. But for mob wives Kathy (Melissa McCarthy), Ruby (Tiffany Haddish) and Claire (Elizabeth Moss), things are about to take a dramatic and radical turn. When the FBI sends their husbands to prison, the three women take business into their own hands by running the rackets and taking out the competition.
In a time where Hollywood is churning out rehash or reboots of classics, it’s nice to see something different. The Kitchen is based on the comic book series created for DC Vertigo by Ollie Masters and Ming Doyle. For those that might not be huge comic book fans, no need to worry. The Kitchen isn’t featuring superheros wearing capes, aliens invading earth for domination or silly one liners. This is a gritty film based on a gritty comic series but some extremely talented actors. This is a film that will pull you in from the beginning and will be entertaining from start to finish. Having not been familiar with the source material, I never felt lost and enjoyed it. This is a film that we would highly recommend. The Kitchen is available now on digital and will be available on bluray on Tuesday, November 5th. This is worth your time to check out.
