AEW Dynamite 08/20/25, OVO Hydro, Glasgow, Scotland

AEW brought Dynamite overseas to Glasgow for the final Dynamite before Forbidden Door. The Scottish fans were loud, energetic, and treated the night like a pay-per-view. The show was structured with three big matches and multiple storyline-driven angles that directly set the stage for Sunday’s event.

1️⃣ – Will Ospreay & Death Riders Chaos → Opening Match

The night opened with Will Ospreay addressing the fans, announcing he wasn’t cleared but would face Jon Moxley in an unsanctioned Lights Out fight anyway. The Death Riders (Moxley, Claudio, Yuta) quickly interrupted, leading into the first match.

Death Riders vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi & JetSpeed (Kevin Knight & Mike Bailey)
The trios bout blended Tanahashi’s veteran charisma with Knight and Bailey’s speed. Ospreay and Marina Shafir were factors at ringside until Ospreay ejected her. The finish saw Tanahashi hit the High Fly Flow on Yuta for the win.
Post-match chaos: Bullet Club War Dogs ran in, Ospreay used a body bag as bait, the Young Bucks hit the ring, and Darby Allin popped out of the bag to attack. More chaos erupted with Samoa Joe, Powerhouse Hobbs, and Shibata joining the fray. Darby capped it with a Coffin Drop from the balcony onto the pile, leaving the crowd roaring.

Adam Copeland & Christian Cage Face-Off, Luchasaurus Returns

Copeland and Christian stood in the ring, not as friends but as uneasy allies. Kip Sabian and Mother Wayne stirred the pot, with Nick Wayne mocking from the screen. Suddenly, eerie lights and a vignette announced the shocking return of Luchasaurus. He stormed the ring and chokeslammed both Copeland and Christian, making his allegiance clear while the crowd erupted.

2️⃣: AEW Tag Title Eliminator Finals – FTR vs. Brody King & Bandido (“Brodido”)

This was presented as the deciding match to determine who would face Hurt Syndicate at Forbidden Door. The clash was physical, with Brody’s power and Bandido’s athleticism against FTR’s experience. Near falls and big bombs kept the crowd hot. After an intense stretch, the time limit expired, ending in a draw. Tony Khan announced live that Forbidden Door would now be a three-way tag title match: Hurt Syndicate vs. FTR vs. Brody & Bandido.

Hangman Page & MJF Segment

Hangman demanded answers, but MJF appeared on the screen with Ricochet and Gates of Agony, holding Mark Briscoe hostage. Dousing Briscoe in gasoline, MJF forced Hangman to accept stipulations: the AEW World Title could change on DQ or count-out, and MJF’s contract leverage remained intact. Hangman accepted, but when he tried to rush backstage, he was beaten down by MJF’s allies. It was one of the darkest angles AEW has aired, raising the stakes for Forbidden Door.

3️⃣ – Main Event: Toni Storm & Alex Windsor vs. Mercedes Moné & Athena

The women’s division headlined Dynamite with champions and challengers colliding. Storm and Windsor had early chemistry, while Moné and Athena struggled to stay on the same page. Miscommunication cost Moné and Athena until Athena recovered and hit the O-Face on Windsor for the victory. Tensions remained between Moné and Athena post-match, with Moné also jawing toward Stephanie Vaquer ahead of her title defense.

Closing Thoughts

Glasgow got a loaded go-home show: Ospreay and Moxley’s rivalry reached new levels of violence, Copeland and Christian’s uneasy alliance collapsed under the return of Luchasaurus, FTR and Brody/Bandido forced a triple threat for the tag titles, Hangman vs. MJF became personal and dangerous, and the women’s division closed the show strong. With the energy of the Glasgow crowd, AEW set the stage for Forbidden Door as one of its biggest events of the year.
